It has been developed specifically to maximise the lower temperatures that are produced from the heat pump. By extending the length of the coil inside the cylinder there is a greater surface area of heat excahnger available to give heat from the heat pump to the hot water for your taps.
The purpose built and designed heat exchanger is a corrugated stainless steel tube in parallel, this reduces any pressure fluctations while maintaining heat exchange. Heat pumps need a thermal store that will cope with the low temperatures associated with a heat pump system. To elimate the risk of legionaires disease these cylinders have a built in immersion heater tapping, allowing you to install an electric immersion heater to bring the water temperature to over 65 degrees once a week for 20 minutes. There is also a thermostat pocket for installing the thermostat coming from your heat pump to continually monitor the temperature of the water in the cylinder. All of the tappings for the Gledhill cylinder are within a 90 degree segment, making installation far simpler.
