Renewable Heat Incentives (RHI)

The government is currently trying to get more and more people to install renewable heating systems in their homes and work places.  To do this they have launched the 'Renewable Heat Incentives' or RHI scheme.  This scheme provides grants and funding to people who want to install renewable heating systems in their homes and offices. The forerunner of the RHI is the 'Renewable Heat Premium Payment' Scheme or RHPP

Renewable Heat Premium Payment (RHPP)

The Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme has been put in place to encourgae people, no matter how they already heat their homes, to install renewable sources of heating, renewable sources of heating come in many different forms, however the grant which will do the most to impact on the cost of renewable heating is the RHPP for air source heat pumps.  The maximum grant available for people installing an air source heat pump system is £850, considering the cost of buying and installing an air source heat pump system is so low compared to the cost of solar panels, ground source heat pumps and biomass boilers, this grant will greatly reduce the cost of having a system installed.

Who can apply for the RHPP payment

Anyone, living in England, Scotland or Wales who does not heat their home by gas from the grid is eligable for the RHPP payment for an air source heat pump, this means that anyone living in England, Scotland or Wales who currently heats their home by electric heaters, oil, tank gas or solid fuel can apply for a Renewable Heat Premium Payment.

What do i have to do to get the Renewable Heat Premium Payment?
